We Confess
Job 38: 4—15
“Where were you when I
laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding.
Who determined its
measurements—surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it?
On what were its bases sunk, or who laid its cornerstone
when the morning stars sang together
and all the heavenly beings shouted for joy?
“Or who shut in the sea with doors
when it burst out from the womb?—
when I made the clouds its garment, and thick darkness its swaddling band,
and prescribed bounds for it, and set
bars and doors,
and said, ‘Thus far shall you come, and no farther, and here shall your proud
waves be stopped’?
“Have you commanded the morning since your days began, and caused the dawn to
know its place,
so that it might take hold of the skirts of the earth, and the wicked be shaken
out of it?
It is changed like clay under the
seal, and it is dyed like a garment.
Light is withheld from the wicked, and their uplifted arm is broken.

We Hear God’s Word
Colossians 1: 15—20
He is the image of the invisible God,
the firstborn of all creation;
for in him all things in heaven and on earth were created, things visible and
invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or powers—all things have been
created through him and for him.
He himself is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
He is the head of the body, the
church; he is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that he might come
to have first place in everything.
For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell,
and through him God was pleased to
reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, by making peace
through the blood of his cross.

Sharing Joys and Concerns
Prayer (concluding with the Lord’s Prayer)
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and forever. AMEN
