Book Study / Fight Like Jesus: How Jesus Waged Peace Throughout Holy WeekMarch 5 - April 2 / 9:30 A.M. @ PMC
Throughout Holy Week, two competing approaches to peacemaking collide. What if we’ve embraced the wrong one? We desperately need to recover the radical vision of peacemaking that Jesus embodied throughout Holy Week. And we urgently need to be trained in his way of making peace. So, come. Let’s journey together day-by-day through Jesus’ final week and discover anew why he is called the Prince of Peace. PMC members Janna Moats, Kris Voss-Rothmeier, Karen Hartmann, and Andra Zerbe will take turns facilitating discussion on chapters of this book written by Jason Porterfield. Additionally, David Holcomb will be creating an insert each week in Lent that brings us reflections and questions from this book. So you are invited to connect to this book study in a number of different ways leading up to Easter. Books are available in the church office for a suggested donation amount. March 5 – Chapters 1 & 2 (Andra Zerbe)
March 12 – Chapters 3 & 4 (Janna Moats) March 19 – Chapters 7 & 8 (Kris Voss Rothmeier) April 2 – Chapters 9 & 10 (Karen Hartmann) |

Anabaptist Community Bible ProjectApril 16 - June 4 / 9:30 A.M. @ PMC
In 2025, the Anabaptist movement will celebrate 500 years after the first adult baptism, and MennoMedia is designing a study Bible to commemorate the event. They have asked Anabaptists all over North America to create small groups to study scripture together and submit notes and reflections that will be included in the publication of the Anabaptist Community Bible. At Portland Mennonite Church we will be joining this project as a part of our Sunday School hour from April 16 to June 4 (no class on May 14 due to the church retreat). If you would like to participate, sign up by filling out this form. We will divide everyone into small groups of 4-6 people with a leader that will meet every Sunday morning at 9:30am to read scripture (3 different passages), reflect and discuss, and write notes to submit for the project. If you would like more information, the Anabaptism at 500 website tells more about the overall project. Additionally, you can find a Leader and Participant guide for the Anabaptist Community Bible Project here. Small Group Leaders will be responsible for facilitating the process for their small group and making sure notes get collected and submitted. |

What is Faith Formation?
Faith Formation at Portland Mennonite Church strives to form a bridge between our Christian faith and everyday lives. Our programs are intended to invite people of all ages to grow in faith. At PMC we are striving to be an Anabaptist community, together, with our children, by the grace of God, that is shaped by the life of Christ, that acts with the compassion of Christ, and worships in the name of Christ.
