NEEDED: Welcome Center Supplies

IMIrJ’s  Immigrant Welcome Center at Aloha United Methodist Church is in need of supplies. The Center serves families in need including due detention or unemployment due to ICE actions.  They are asking for donations of nonperishable food and household items or gift cards for groceries or gas. We will be collecting items at PMC over the next month. There are lists of items located near the labeled box in the back of the Old Chapel. The Radical Hospitality Team thanks you for your generosity.

What is the Radical Hospitality Team
at PMC?

The scriptures call us to extend radical hospitality to neighbors and strangers. The Radical Hospitality Team is a group attempting to help PMC extend hospitality to immigrant neighbors and advocate for immigrant justice.
  • We hope to meet about once a month to organize our efforts.
  • We hope to connect with local organizations working on immigration justice.
  • As a small steering committee, we hope to help connect a larger group of PMC folks who want to plug in when opportunities arise.

Current projects include:
  • Partnership with IMIrJ (the Interfaith Movement for Immigrant Justice)
  • Continuing to learn from Keren Rodriguez about how we can be helpful & connect to the work of IMIrJ

Material Giving Projects
  • Advent Giving Tree: Gathering food and supplies for the IMIrJ pantry that serves the immigrants they work with
  • Relationships with immigrant friends and neighbors
  • Listening to the needs of immigrant friends and neighbors and working to meet those needs
  • Rapid Response plan

Committee Members: Irene Morrow, Sylvia Shirk, Kristen Swartley
