1. Rod shapes the identity of the congregation as a distinctly Christian and Anabaptist community through preaching, teaching and worship. He creates an engaging worship experience by leading the worship committee and encouraging a variety of gifts from within the congregation to be used in a multitude of ways. *

3. Rod leads the staff by providing support, direction, and supervision in coordinating their efforts to create a healthy culture in which the congregation can live out the gospel in practical and effective ways. *

4. The pastor is available to provide pastoral care and facilitate congregational care (ex. officiating at life rituals, providing spiritual support during times of celebration or crisis). *

5. Rod represents PMC to the broader church community and conference and is involved in Portland's greater community of faith. *

6. Rod is authentic, responsive, and collaborative. *
