About PMC(When we meet in person...)
On Sunday mornings, 200 of us (give or take) gather for Sunday School and worship. During the school year our Sunday school hour begin at 9:30 AM and our worship services begins at 8:30 AM and 10:45 AM. (During the summer months we have one service at 9:30 AM and do not have Sunday School.) At Portland Mennonite Church everyone is welcome to join us as we strive to follow the way of Jesus together. Whether you are old or young, whether you are trying to figure out what to do with your life, retired, working, or looking for work, whether you are straight, queer, or questioning, whether you are single, or married, divorced or widowed, whatever your race, ethnicity, ability, sexual orientation or gender identity, you are welcome to participate fully in the life and ministries of our congregation, including baptism, membership, marriage, leadership and pastoral ministry. We recognize that we won’t always agree, but we trust the Spirit will grant us the wisdom and grace to love one another as God loves us all. During the week, small groups meet all over the metropolitan area. And every day members of the congregation who work at hospitals, teach school, drive public transit buses, run businesses, work in law offices and parent children, strive to heed the ancient words of the prophet Jeremiah: "Seek the peace of the city where I have sent you ... and pray to the Lord on its behalf" (Jeremiah 29.7). Our congregation is actively involved globally in service and advocacy efforts with Mennonite Central Committee and we work with local ministries including Mainspring Portland, Night Strike, New City Initiative and others. To learn more, look through our web site. If you have any questions , please contact us. You are very welcome to join us on our journey of faith. Peace to you, Rod Stafford |
