COVID 19 UPDATE: (Posted 1/26/2021)
Nightstrike is beginning again in a new form
PMC continues to participate in Nightstrike's work on a regular basis, offering people who live outside food and other essentials. Due to COVID, Nighstrike has conducted walkabouts on Sunday afternoon instead of its previous under-the-bridge evenings on Thursday nights. PMC has joined this effort every 2nd Sunday. However, they've now reopened under the bridge on Thursdays nights as well, serving people in a very minimal way (only offering dinner and basic handouts) and conducting the evening in accordance with the state's social distancing mandates to keep all volunteers and guests safe. As a result, PMC will rejoin this on the 2nd Thursdays, but will also continue with the Sunday walkabouts. Therefore, our upcoming volunteer opportunities include: Thursday Feb 11th 7pm under the bridge, Sunday Feb 14th 3:30pm walkabout, as will also be the case in March. The slots available are limited, approximately 5 on Sundays and 3 on Thursdays. You may indicate your interest by emailing Susan Voss-Rothmeier or completing the signup form on PMC's website.

Night Strike is a community gathering that mobilizes volunteers/services, meets felt needs, and develops relationships that transform lives. It is a unique opportunity for people to spend time under the Burnside Bridge every Thursday night to love people because people matter. It is an opportunity for members of Portland’s homeless community to hang out, enjoy a hot meal, receive a free haircut or shave, have their feet washed and have their old shoes/clothes/sleeping bags replaced.
Through the leadership and coordinating efforts of Susan Voss-Rothmeier, PMC has made a commitment to be involved on the 2nd Sunday night of the month.
