Harold Dale Moyer’s Biography
Harold Dale Moyer, known as Dale, lived 80 years. He was born in Quakertown, PA on February 6, 1942 to Harold and Kathryn Moyer. Dale passed away at the Hope Village Memory Care facility in Canby, OR with his family at his side on April 26th, 2022.
Dale was the oldest child of six and grew up in Bucks County, PA. As a child, he enjoyed spending time and working on his uncles’ farms. As a young man, he worked for several factories in Pennsylvania before moving to Portland, OR to participate in 1-W Service where he worked as a transportation orderly at Emanuel Hospital. Through this experience, he met many new friends from around the United States.
He met Sharon Moyer, his wife, while living in Portland, OR after he had completed his 1-W. They were married on July 15, 1972 and they enjoyed life together in SW Portland for 49 years.They were blessed with three children, Michelle, Shawn and Stephanie. Dale worked as a computer operator in the early days of computers. He changed careers and became an Investment Broker and discovered that he really enjoyed the work up until the time that he needed to retire in 2019 due to his declining health.
Dale enjoyed traveling, playing softball, bowling, watching sporting events, gathering with family and friends and reading. Being part of a church was always an important part of his life. When he first moved to Portland, he connected with Portland Mennonite Church where he was an active member of Portland Mennonite Church for nearly 50 years. He served in many capacities including a Sunday School teacher, on Church Council and as an Elder. He loved the Lord and believed it was important to serve with the church community.
He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Michelle and her husband, David, Shawn and his wife, Marianne and Stephanie and her husband, Jon; six grandchildren, Alisa, Zachary, Joshua, Levi, Isaac and Liam; five siblings, Carl Moyer and his wife, Jean, Lynette Martin, Lois Hackman and her husband, Cleon, Glen Moyer and his wife, Donna, and Nancy Delp and her husband, Bob. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon and his parents.
Dale’s spark for life will be missed on earth, but he is now joyfully with the Lord.
