From Charlene Epp:
Viola and her family wonderfully welcomed Duncan and I were embraced by the Nussbaum family. Once you were “family” with Viola there was no hiding the goodness and challenges of lives - hers or ours. Viola offered intimate parts of her life as she adjusted to life in Portland. Duncan and I are so grateful to know have shared a portion of our lives with her. Deep love to the Nussbaum's - and SOO good to see those of you we know and love.
Viola loved in an amazingly unconditional way. As long as one loved the Lord, her personal beliefs never got in the way of embracing another. She spoke fondly of the diversity her family represented and loved each of you deeply. - Charlene Epp & Duncan Smith
From Art Johnson:
I am the eldest son of Viola’s first cousin, Lois Sherman Johnson, a daughter of Elmer Sherman, Viola’s mother’s brother.
I do not recall the Nussbaum children per se, as we were only together for a few short periods of time when the family visited the home area in the '50s, but I remember the family arriving for visits at our farm near Edgewood, Iowa a few times when Viola was back in her home area, with George driving a Studebaker, as I recall. I remember wondering how you managed to travel across the country with 6 kids in such a small car! We traveled with my mom & dad plus five kids in a '53 Chevy, and even the 10-mile trip to church on a Sunday morning had us kids irritating each other!
From Linda Rush:
My condolences to all the family members. Viola was special. I could always count on hearing an interesting family story when I visited her.
From Snyder Family:
Philippians 1 from Paul to believers there I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all, making request with joy for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident in this very thing, that he who has begun a good work in you will be faithful to perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.
