A Conversation on Race and Faith

JOIN THE CONVERSATION...
Tuesday, June 2

These last few days have been stunning and at the same time utterly normal. The cycle of racial violence just repeats itself again and again on a spiral into deathliness. And I often feel at a loss about effecting any substantive change to systems and institutions, let alone within myself. But we can try to be honest and direct and not let our white fragility mute voices we need to hear and heed.

The Racial Justice Committee of PMC  hosted an online conversation on race and faith.
Let us pray for peace and act for peace.

The Third Rail Repertory Theatre lists several anti-racism organizations for white people to connect with.  I mentioned in my break-out group that I would post a link here.

Thanks for this conversation! I'm going to try to find out about the action requested by Commissioner JoAnn Hardesty re: Police Officer's Bill of RIghts. Here is a link to the tweets that she posted recently, including her recommendation to contact legislators about this: https://twitter.com/JoAnnPDX/status/1267153986118807552
I have not been able yet to identify the Oregon statute # if it is an actual law but will keep trying.

Link to Wikipedia about this general subject nationally, although it does not include Oregon as having adopted this (?): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_Enforcement_Officers%27_Bill_of_Rights

Thank you, Linda. I appreciate your efforts on this. I look forward to hearing what you learn about. As we talked about on Tuesday night during our congregational Zoom meeting, perhaps this can be a campaign that our congregation can get involved with.
