The PMC Sunday School children are using their offering money this year to support Heifer International. They are slowly trying to fill up the barnyard (on left) with animals. Next Sunday you might want to pull one of the kids aside and ask if you could add a dollar or two to their efforts. The smile you will get will probably be worth it!

Last Saturday evening people from Ministerios Restauracion and Portland Mennonite Church met for a singing juntos (Spanish for 'gathering'). We sang traditional hymns like 'Amazing Grace' and current songs like 'Cuan Grande es Dios.' Later we were asked to learn the hometowns of five other people and prizes were given out for, among other things, the longest name of a hometown - Ciudad de Guatemala (17 letters). Afterward we enjoyed tostadas, a common dish in Mexico and Guatemala. We all had a very good time singing together and learning to know each other better.
~ Rod Stafford Friends of Portland Mennonite Church,
I've learned a new word - 'juntos.' It means 'together' in Spanish. This Saturday night we are going to have a 'singing juntos' - we are going to sing together with Ministerios Restauracion. We will gather at 6:00pm on the lower level of PMC and sing in Spanish and English, accapella and fully amped. Then at about 6:45 or so, we will have a 'social' (I don't know yet what that Spanish word is). A light dinner will be served. Families with small children could leave as early as 7:00; we will definitely be finished by 7:30pm. It should be a lot of fun. I hope you can join us. ~ Rod Stafford |
