2 WAYS TO RESPOND RIGHT NOW: SEND AID / WRITE LETTERS
FROM MENNONITE PALESTINE ISRAEL NETWORK in partnership with Youth Vision Society (YVS) in Gaza ...
Greetings from YVS team.
Gaza is bleeding! On Friday 14th May 2021 Palestinian health officials in Gaza stated 109 people, among whom there were 31 children and 19 women, were killed in Israeli airstrikes. 830 other people were badly injured. Many residential apartment buildings were flattened to the ground. Women and children are dying on a nearly minutely basis from the bombing. About 2000 families are homeless so far and the number is expected to increase within hours. Those families don't have sustenance nor shelter. The UN reported one of two people in Gaza already need humanitarian aid.
Support Gaza aims to boost the resilience of people in Gaza by providing hundreds of families with emergency relief baskets that will include food, two blankets, two packs of diapers, and two cans of milk. One basket will put food on a family's table for two weeks. The blankets will be temporary comfort. Diapers and milk will help children stay calm in these frightening times. Your donation can bring relief to hundreds in Gaza.
In an April 29 letter to U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, 12 churches and Christian agencies stressed that “action is needed to ensure that all Israeli demolitions of Palestinian homes, schools, and other property is ceased.” In addition to calling for the U.S. to take immediate action, the letter draws attention to H.R. 2590 introduced by Rep. Betty McCollum, which, if passed, would ensure that no U.S. assistance to Israel is used to fund the demolition of Palestinian homes, annex Palestinian land or hold Palestinian children in military detention.
Action: Ask Congress to urge an immediate cessation of violence in Israel and Gaza and to pass H.R. 2590.
