STORIES FROM THE
LIFE OF PMC...

Update from Britt:

Hello from the Netherlands, PMC! I miss you all dearly.
It’s been a month since we landed in the Netherlands and wow, they have been both extremely slow and extremely fast. Leaving PMC, getting married, going on a honeymoon to Hawaii (dreamy), an international move, and trying to furnish a completely unfurnished apartment has had my head spinning a bit. Amid all the craziness, however, I have a deep sense that I am where I am supposed to be and—more importantly—with whom I’m supposed to be with (aka Brandon, aka my husband, aka OH MY GOSH I’M MARRIED).

A week ago after three weeks of searching, we finally were approved for a rental apartment near the city center of Eindhoven where we are living. It’s brand new and on the 10th floor! We just got our first piece of furniture today (a mattress from Ikea!), and we move in on Nov 15. I cannot wait to be able to cook real meals.

Speaking of real meals…the cookbook. ❤ ❤ ❤. I absolutely love it. I was able to read it for the first time on the plane over here and seeing your recipes and comments made me feel as if I were being wrapped in a quilt of love—just like my final Sunday at PMC. I can’t wait to start cooking!
As for life in the Netherlands, it is really is absolutely amazing. Everybody bikes—rain or shine. The Dutch have us PNWers beat on rain tolerance. It will be pouring down rain and the city center is just as full of people walking around, shopping and sitting in cafes. We’ve gone on days trips to Utrecht, Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Bruges (my favorite). We even got to walk by and peer in to the Doopsgezind (Mennonite) church in Amsterdam! Everybody has been extremely, extremely kind to us. We especially love two of our hotel workers, Danique and Poppy.

We will never say no to a letter! Our address here will be:

It was great hearing about all the newness you are experiencing in living in a different country, a different home with new furniture and with Brandon, the right person for you! Sounds like you’re getting a lot of sightseeing done, also!
Love the pictures!

So pleased to hear from you and you sound so very happy. I know from experience what it is like to go far away to settle down soon after the wedding. Getting settled in ones new home with ones husband is like no other experience. An adventure perhaps! And all the new stuff and where shall I put it !? Have fun and I am sure Brandon is looking forward to your cooking in your new kitchen with new pots and pans and dishes. Wow.
Peace be with you.

I'm so excited for this amazingly amazing adventure that you're on. Also I'm excited to have an address!!! I compiled my poem collection in a fancy "Pee-Chee" style folder and carried them around in my car for weeks and just could not deliver before you left. Not that you've been holding your breath, but watch the mail. I'm off this week and that is on my list!

Miss you so much. Diane is holding the pastoral fort beautifully, though, so never fear! I also finally have my own PMC-made quilt, because I finally got in on the MCC Sale bidding war and watched the website like a hawk until I had secured it. I did have to make a last-minute bid and it was worth every dime.

Big blessings on you both! Babies! Have babies! They'll be gorgeous!
